Why Consider Adoption?

Every woman is unique and many circumstances can contribute to an adoption decision. Below are some of the more common reasons a birth mother may choose to place a child for adoption:

  • Financial Abilities — Can you afford to provide for yourself and a baby?

  • Lack of Support System — Are there people in your life who can help you raise a child?

  • Two-Parent Household — If the birth father is not involved, would you prefer your child to have a two-parent family?

  • Career & Education Goals — Are you still in school? Will your career or job allow the time and flexibility needed to parent?

  • Age & Inexperience — Parenting is a lifelong commitment. Are you emotionally and physically ready to parent?

  4. Select your adoptive family

  5. Connect with your social worker and attorney for your adoption

  6. Continued support for your needs

  7. Place the child with the adoptive family

  8. Documentation

  9. Continued support and counseling (your post-adoption plan)

Answers to common questions

Who chooses the adoptive family?

Adoptive Families are chosen by the birth mother. Our adoption coordinator provides birth mothers with profile books of the families that have been approved to adopt by social workers and our agency.

will placing my child for adoption cost me anything?

No, there is no cost to the birth mother for any of the counseling and additional services we provide. Additionally, legal fees associated with an adoption, including attorney fees, are covered by the adoptive family.

Will i receive any financial assistance during my pregnancy?

Yes, in addition to providing for any adoption related legal fees, adoptive families provide for medical bills that are not covered by insurance or public aid. Often, reasonable pregnancy-related expenses and transportation to and from appointments is also covered.
